Do You Grind Your Teeth?

Bruxism

Do you ever wake up with a sore mouth, neck pain, or a headache? You could be suffering from Bruxism, if you have been under a lot of stress you could be involuntarily clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth while you sleep. It is fairly common, especially after the year we have been through to have extra anxieties.

Why can teeth grinding be harmful?

Chronic teeth grinding can result in fracturing, wearing down, loosening, or loss of teeth. Your jaw and bite could also start to become affected by clenching because of the severe pressure you are putting on your bones.

Treatment options

There are various types of mouthpieces and mouthguards that you can wear while you are sleeping to reduce damaging your teeth and mouth. We have a few recommendations that are comfortable and effective.

In addition to using a mouthguard, you may be able to prevent the root of the problem by learning strategies that promote relaxation, such as meditation and affirmations to alleviate stress.

For severe cases, we may recommend botox injections. We can discuss if this option would work for you after a free consultation.
